What stress can feel like in your mind and body
When your nervous system is caught in a stress response, it can feel like you're constantly braced for something, even when nothing is obviously wrong. You might notice your thoughts racing, your sleep is disrupted, or you feel irritable and on edge for reasons you can't quite explain. Small decisions feel harder than they should, You feel tired but wired. Your body is working hard just to get through the day.
When things begin to shift, it doesn't always feel dramatic. It can be quieter than that. You start to notice you're sleeping a little better. Situations that used to hijack your mood don't pull you under quite as easily. You feel more present in conversations, less caught in your head. There's a bit more space between a stressful moment and your reaction to it. You feel steadier — not because life has got easier, but because something in you has quietly shifted. That steadiness is what we work towards together.

The Quiet Mind may be right for you if...

You feel constantly overwhelmed or mentally exhausted
-
You are carrying the pressure of work, family or caring responsibilities
-
You are navigating a major life transition
-

Supporting life's transitions
I started this work because I know what it feels like when life gets loud and you can't quite find solid ground. I'm passionate about helping people cut through the noise — not just to cope better, but to feel genuinely clear, confident and like themselves again.

Some people come in the middle of real change — career shifts, new chapters, shifting priorities, life not going to plan. Others just need a soft place to land, a little clarity, and someone in their corner while they make a few tweaks.

Whatever brings you here, you are welcome. All of it matters. The right conversation at the right time can shift you in a better direction.

Working collaboratively with other professionals
People access support through The Quiet Mind in different ways. Some choose to seek support independently, while others are referred by healthcare professionals, legal professionals or other practitioners. Where appropriate, I work collaboratively with other trusted professionals to provide connected, coordinated support that reflects each person's individual needs and circumstances.

Meet Elke Mackenzie
With a background in psychology, health, government and professional coaching, I bring more than 15 years’ experience supporting people through periods of pressure, change and uncertainty. My approach combines evidence-informed practices, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), nervous system regulation principles and practical stress management strategies, to help people better understand their experiences and develop tools that support greater resilience, balance and emotional wellbeing. I am also trained in Collaborative Practice, which complements my work supporting people through times of change and uncertainty.

Beyond my professional experience, I am a mother of three, and that role has shaped me just as much as my professional one. Parenting brings its own particular kind of pressure — the identity shifts, the transitions, and the constant need to adapt. Navigating those experiences has deepened my understanding of stress, resilience and what it takes to genuinely show up for people, particularly during life’s more challenging seasons.

Areas of focus

Stress
management
Through a coaching lens, we get curious about how you think, feel and move through the world—especially when life gets a little stressful. There’s no manual for being human, but with a bit more awareness, we can handle life's challenges with more clarity and confidence.

Emotional regulation
Our emotions carry important messages—but when they’re intense or unpredictable, they can make us feel stuck or reactive. I support clients in tuning into their emotional landscape with curiosity and compassion. Together, we explore how to understand, process and regulate emotions in a healthy way, so you can respond rather than react, and feel more grounded in day-to-day life.

Confidence & emotional wellbeing
When we get clear on what truly matters to us—and begin to trust ourselves more deeply—life starts to feel more aligned. I guide clients to untangle confusion, build inner confidence, and reconnect with a sense of purpose. Whether you're navigating change, seeking more fulfilment, or just wanting to feel more like yourself again, this work creates space for real growth and transformation.

Working with Elke has been nothing short of transformative. From our very first session, I felt deeply seen, supported, and understood. She creates a space that feels calm, safe, and completely free of judgment—where I could finally unpack the thoughts and emotions I’d been carrying for years.
Elke has a unique ability to gently guide you back to yourself. Through her coaching, I’ve learned how to manage stress in a way that feels empowering, not overwhelming. I’ve developed emotional tools that I now use daily, and for the first time in a long time, I feel clear, confident, and grounded in who I am and where I’m going.
Her wisdom, warmth, and presence are truly rare. I can honestly say I’m walking through life with more purpose, ease, and resilience because of our work together.
